leg spasms

My 6yr old cat has developed a spasm of some sort
in his front right leg. If i hold his leg or massage
his shoulder area it stops but resumes as soon as I stop.
He doesn't act as if it hurts or bothers him in any way.
Can cats get pinched nerves?

I have never seen this myself but I did a little research on the web and it seems that cats and dogs can get pinched nerves; its recommended that the animal get immediate care so as not to make things worse. I would suggest you see your vet as soon as possible, especially if there's any sign of it worsening.
