Maggot-looking worms

I recently discovered a place where my cat had gone to the bathroom outside of his litter box.  I noticed that there were a bunch of maggot-looking worms near the feces.  What were these and should I be worried?

There are many types of intestinal worms and yes, your cat needs to see a vet right away. This is easily treated (whatever type of worms it is and you vet will know exactly when you tell him about it). But without the medicine, your cat is suffering from these parasites so please get him to a vet right away.
