run away cat

we just moved into a new shared house and before that our cat was an inside cat but now the kids have started letting him out the first time was ok after just a few hours he came home after we called but now his been gone for 4 days almost 5 and i cant find him wat else can i do iv called the vets n pound but they havent seen him where else do i start?

This is not uncommon and my own cat did the same thing and went missing for about four days my sisters cat went missing for nine before they came home (even though he had only been there for one day before).
