cat licking problem

Question
I have two adult cats.  One is new and licks the other's head between its ears and eyes until open soars develop and hair is missing.  To make matters worse, the cat with the soars begins to scratch and rub the soars, making them worse.  What can I do?

Answer
Some how you need to get the one cat to quit licking the other cats head.  There are some sprays out there that taste horrible that can deter licking, but make sure you consult your vet first since you don't want to irritate the skin any worse than it already has been.  I would definitely take the cat that is being licked in for a physical - its possible there is something wrong with him or his skin that is causing the other cat to lick him so much - I'm surprised he is allowing it if it is opening sores.  At the very least you should clean the sores and apply an antibiotic ointment (like Neosporin) on them to promote healing.  I hope he gets better.
