strange eating

my question was not about eating his coat, he is eating coal, like home heating coal. hope this clarifies the question for you!

What do you mean eating coat?  Is he fixed?  Is he chewing himself raw?  Please be a bit more specific and descriptive.

If the cat is not neutered, it may be hormonal.  If he is eating himdelf raw, you need to vist a veterinarian.

Coal!?!?!?!?!?  I am sorry for misunderstanding your question!

Cats should not be eating coal. This is the first I have ever heard of any cat doing such!  Have you had the cat to the vet to make sure he is OK.  Eating coal or licking off coal dust cannot be good for your cat.

If there is any way of blocking him from going into the coal bin, I would do so!
