Question
my cat was pregnant before and had given birth to only one: a still born, now she is pregnant again, and i am afraid that the same will happen. my worries are that she is overdue. we have a male in the house all the time so it hard to say how long shes been pregnant. i feel kicking in her abdominal area. what should i do? vet says we should just wait. as a cecerian could be lethal to the baby??

Answer
Nadja,

I agree with the vet.  Give her a birthing area and be vigilant.  At the first sign of trouble get her to the vet.  If they have to do a Cesarean, consider having her spayed at the same time.

Under the best of conditions Persians are not an easy breed.  If she has had a history of problems, I would hold tight and hope nature is kinder this time around.

In any case, if she does deliver, I would consider having her spayed as soon as the kitten is weaned.  Also, consider neutering the male, as well.  Everyone will end up much happier, over all.

Good luck and best regards... Norm.
