Question
My cat has allergies.  The vet and I have decided he is also allergic to the preservatives in wet food products.  I have been giving him Feline zd Low Allergen dry food prescribed by the vet.  I was also giving him wet food with no fish.  We left the vet again today because he has scratched so much again that he has an open sore.  I have kept him inside for one month in case he has an outside allergy to grass or whatever.  It is Sat. and I forgot to ask him if I could give him some milk.  I have heard yes and no for milk for cats.  Can you help me?  Thanks Tina

Answer
It depends on the cat. Some cats, like humans, are lactose intolerant. If your cat vomits or gets diarrea after drinking milk..then it wouldn't be good for him. If he can't handle it you can always buy Cat Sip ..or you can also buy rice milk which is mild on the stomach. They also sell milk for people who are lactose intolerant. I think rice milk is the cheapest option if your cat can't tolerate reg. milk  Remember it should be used as a treat and counted as a food, not drink. Fresh water should be available at all times.
