My kittens keep dying off one by one

Question
My mother cat, was a stray that I found and brought home. She was starved and has some kind of eye problem. Iv had her for a year now and shes still small as she was when i brought her home. She recently had a litter of 6 kittens out behind our home. When we found the kittens one was dead, it looks like it had been sat on. So I brought a box out to the back yard and put the kittens it it and brought them in, along with the mother cat. Everything was fine for a few hours she had been feeding them regularly, then I noticed the calico pulling off to the side, and letting out little pitiful meows and was all wet around the mouth and nose then a little while later it died. I was then left with 4 kittens. They were all doing good for a day or two, they all looked healthy. They are almost one week old today, then another one dies..out of nowhere. But I had noticed it pulling away the other day. But it seemed to be doing fine. Now I am left with 3 kittens. I heard about something called fading kitten syndrome and im scared that that may be happening to my cat. My mother cat is really skinny but she eats alot. I noticed some large hard lumps under some of her nipples. I dont think milk will come out of them, but im not sure. Should I start feeding the kittens with a bottle and milk supplement? Or just wait and see what happens? Please tell me what I should do to keep my kittens from dying!

Answer
Hi Brittany,

Go to the pet store or Wal Mart and get something called KMR. It kitten replacement milk. Get a nursing bottle for kittens and follow the directions. Start feeding the kittens this. You are supplementing the mom's feedings.  Feed the mom kitten food. Its for the extra nutritional needs she has now. This should help all. Good luck and let me know what happens.
