Cat Hissing and Scratching

My cat is loving and affectionate with me and his "grandmother" but he often hisses and scratches at my sister's legs.  Why does he do this and how can I help?

I really need more information!  How old is your sister and how old was she when you got your cat?

Often young children are unpredictable and cats do not like that.  If this is not the problem, then I really cannot help you much.

What you might suggest to your sister is to ignore the cat and make pretend it does not exist.  She should not approach the cat.  If the cat wants to approach her and will let her pet the cat, then by all means then, and only then, should she pet the cat.  Cats, as a rule, hate to be ignored, and will often (but nor always) nudge the person ignoring them.
