Urinary Tract Infection

My cat has just been diagnosed with Urinary Tract Infection and I was just wondering if there is any special kind of medicine I need to give him?  Also, is there a special diet of food he may need to go on?  If so, what is the best brand of food for him?

Hi Dave,

Your vet should have given you some antibiotics to clear up the infection and beside that you want to make sure he has fresh, clean water available to encourage him to drink.  Most cat food manufacturers have a "urinary health" formula cat food in both dry and canned so you can check out some of those.  You'll have to go to a pet store to really get a variety of them but I like ProPlan and Eukanuba in general, I think they're high quality foods and they both have urinary health dry. ProPlan has one or two canned as well.
