Question
Hi,

I have a cat named Mia, shes approx. a yr old and I'm definatly sure shes pregnant, but my problem is I don't know exactly how much longer she has left of her pregnancy.
I've got to numerous websites asking how to tell but all of them have just said to go to a vet. well, I unfortunately cannot afford to take her to the vet and my mother is assuring me everything will be fine with her. By the websites ive been on, they are suggesting that shes in her last week of pregnancy.
Its been over like 2 weeks and shes still showing the same signs. Shes is obviously pregnant, she cant even fit into her old hiding spot, shes stripped the hair off of her teats and shes had milk in them for a few days now, the kittens can be felt and seen inside her belly, and shes very antsy and acting like shes in heat.
I know I'm probly fretting over nothing but I'm starting to get worried about her. Oh, and another thing, I'm not completly sure, but, her brother is not fixed and I'm afraid he might be their father. I read online that inbreeding isn't really a problem in cats but my aunt's cat had deformed kittens, I'm not sure if shes just trying to scare me. Should I be worried about her? And how can I tell without going to a vet how far along she is? And is imbreeding going to really affect the kittens?

Thank you for your time, and hopefully you can help me,
Erin

Answer
hi Erin, well inbreeding CAN be a problem. It is certainly not desired to breed siblings together.. but at this point there isn't much you can do as she is already pregnant. For the future I would get her spayed and her brother neutered asap.
It sounds like she is ready to deliver anytime between today and Saturday. She is very close to her due date by your description. hopefully everything will go well for her. It is nice if you can stay with her as much as possible for the next couple of days.
