Siamese cat behavior ~~~ Very odd

Hello,

A friend of mines daughter found a stray Siamese cat and brought it home. He is male and they have had him in the house for almost 3 months. He has always gotten along with their Min-Pin pup. The pup is almost 6 months old and the cat, they are guessing is almost adult aged, if not already.

Starting last week, the cat is constantly catching the pup napping or corners him and starts sucking on his privates. Penis, I guess I should say. They are afraid the pup is going to get hurt. And wonder what causes this and/or how to stop it.

I told her I would check online, but have had no luck in finding any info. I also have a male Siamese and have never experienced this situation.

If you have any info or can point me in a direction to look, it would greatly appreciated.

Hi Susan.  This is one of those things that seems very foreign and wrong to us, but it's somewhat common in the animal world.  A lot of animals will suck on their own genitals, or kittens may suck on the genitals of their litter mates.  Some cats suck on blankets.  I had one cat constantly suck on her tail, and another who would always suckle a male cat's belly.  It's simply a comfort thing, like a child sucking his thumb.  It's not going to harm the cat or the pup, but if it disturbs the family, then have them put the kitty in a separate room for 15 minutes or so when they catch him in the act, to try to break his train of thought.
