Question
Hi,

My cat has started to have his 3rd eye partially (25%) come across his eye
over the last day and a half. He seems fine, not crying or rubbing his eyes but
when I look at him I can see the 3rd eye visible.
Is this something I should wait on? He really gets stressed going to the vet
but I dont want there to be long term damage?

Thank you for your help.

Jeanne

Answer
Hi Jeanne.  A visible haw is a general sign of stress, which can be emotional or physical in nature.  So it could be an indication of an illness brewing or a signal that he's feeling discomfort with some sort of change in the household.  Most cases resolve on their own, but I would keep a close eye on him over the next couple of days.  If any other symptoms develop, such as redness or swelling of the eyelids, eye or nasal discharge, lethargy, or loss of appetite, I'd get him to the vet.  If no other symptoms arise but the third eyelid continues to be exposed for longer than a few more days, it's probably a good idea to it checked out just in case.
