Cat vs. Kitten Biting

Question
We have 3 cats.  2 females - 10 year old fully declawed and a 3 year old, front declawed only and both spayed.  Our new kitten was brought home in October.  He is neutered and fully declawed.  The 3 year old acts like a "mommy cat" to the kitten but he bites her which is causing open wounds that typically are scabbed over but the one under her chin she scratches at with her back claws and it begins bleeding.  The older female has no wounds.  My question is why doesn't the 3 year old defend herself against the kitten and what can we do to help stop the kitten from biting the older cat?  They sleep together, clean each other and seem to get along but the kitten just wants to play and it is hurting the older one?  Anything you can do would be great!

Answer
Hello Nelda

The information you have given me is a little confusing, so can you just clarify a few things to me.

How old is the male? Is he neutered? Does he bite or 'attack' your other female? And when exactly does the 'biting' etc take place? Is it just when they are playing? And what exactly does she do when he bites her?

Thank you

Kelly
