Cat Missing

Question
My 2 year old adopted cat has gone missing whilst I was away for 6 weeks, although other people were feeding her. She never ever left her surroundings. She has now been gone 7 weeks.  I have searched night and day.  One night I saw her about 2 miles from home.  She looked totally traumatised and just froze when I called her name.  I tried to approach her and she ran away. She did not look hurt in any way.  If it was her, why did she not come to me and why did she look traumatised.  Can cats forget their owners so quickly? Ballerina would never leave her surroundings voluntarily.  She was much loved and cared for.  She knew my footsteps and my car.  If she is not hurt, why does she not come home?

Answer
Hi Dora,

Your cat is in major defense and survival mode right now. She has not forgotten you but has learned new ways to survive. You are not part of her new ways. You can get her back. I would suggest you type in Debbie C in the search bar of this site. She was an expert here and specialized in helping people getting their lost cats back. Read her posts. They have lots of really good info to use to get Ballerina back home. People have found and gotten lost cats from being missing over 6 months.  Follow her advice and you should be able to capture Ballerina and get her home. Good luck.

Ciao, Karen
