male cat dragging clothing around

i read the answer about the female cat dragging clothing, but mine is a male, part himilyan and siamese..has also been doing this since he was a baby. it's not only dirty clothes from the hamper, but brand new clothes hanging in the closet, on my inside clothesline dryer, now towels etc from the linen closet. is there any way of breaking him of this.

Hi Vickie.  Since we're not entirely sure what causes the behavior, it's difficult to break the habit.  The best idea is to give him a few articles of old clothing that he will be allowed to drag around, such as a couple socks or a t-shirt, and then keep your closet doors closed, keep lids on all your hampers, and he will have to be kept out of the room with the clothesline while there are clothes on it.  I know it's a pain, but when it comes to animal training, the first step is always to eliminate temptations.  Animals lack the ability to understand that certain things are off limits, so we must make them physically inaccessible.
