dog in mourning?

Question
I recently had to put one of my 2 dogs to sleep.(oct. 12) The surviving dog has not eaten, is mopy, doesn't even want to go outside. She was always a active dog, even at the age of 11 she loved being outside and running, playing etc... I know that dogs mourn but how long, before I worry about her? How can I help her? These two dogs had lived together for 10 years. She is the last of 4. Please do not advise getting another dog as that is not an option at this time.

Answer
I think you just need to spend some more time with your dog. By this I mean, share more couch time, more snuggling, more love. . More walks if she is willing. BUT give her time to mourn. She is the last of 4 dogs, she knows what happened.   More play time if she is willing to play.

If she has not eaten within a few days, speak with your vet. Try treats too.

Good luck!
