Question
I have been careing for a stray tom cat for about a year.  I also have a adult female cat who has lived with me for 4 years.  The tom is mainly an outside cat except recently I have been keeping him inside because of a wound he has aquired.  I noticed him limpimg last week and looked at his paw.  I thought he just tore a nail.  It was bloody and puss was coming out of the top.  I cleaned it good and he also cared for it and it  healed within 3 days.  During the 3 days I noticed a lump forming om his cheek.  The lump burst and drained.  Now the area is quite raw from him cleaning it.  I have been patting it with a cloth and water. Are these wounds from a fight possibly?  I can't really aford to take him to the vet, I would like to help as much as I can.  I would like to know if I can do anything else to help him heal and also if I can apply neosporin to the wound.  Thanks

Answer
thats an abcess from a bit. and unfortunatly you are going to have to take him to a vet, especially if its on the face. he could have more forming since this abcess may be from the same fight.

if you cannot afford to care for him, called the alley cat allies (do a google search) and they will get you in touch with someone to take him.
