Question
my 6mth old puppy (toy chichua tacobelldog)started vomiting and passing stools with blood that is gummy.I haven't seen any worms. he eats fine and is active except when he starts feeling bad. could these symptoms be from teething?or could it be a type of worm? he had his 8wk puppy shots and had a 7-in-one shot 2wks ago. he does have a habbit of chewing wood, rocks, leaves, dirt, pretty much anything that doesn't bite him first. this is my first dog in 21 years and i love him dearly and would be totaly devestating for me please help me!

Answer
These symptoms are not from teething.  Best bet is to get him to the vet, and take a stool sample along to be checked (the only worms you will see in the stool are tapeworms and roundworms--other parasites like coccidia, hookworm, giardia or whipworms could be present).  He could dehydrate and become very sick within a short period of time so you do not want to wait to get him medical attention.  We are seeing an outbreak of Parvovirus in our area and with his vaccine history, he is not completely protected.  Puppies should receive a series of three vaccines at 8, 12 & 16 weeks.
