cat sensitivity to floor refinishing fumes

Question
Three weeks ago I had the hardwood floors refinished in my house, and plan
on moving in shortly.  The fumes are still quite strong, despite my attempts
to air out the house.  I'm worried about the potential effects of the fumes on
my two cats (both healthy four-year-olds).  Apart from continuing to air out
the house (it's so hot out that I've been keeping the air conditioning on while
the painter works there), is there anything else I should do to ensure their
safety?  Would buying some kind of air cleaner help?

Answer
Katherine:  I am not an experts in this area.  It does cause a concern for your cats to be around the fumes.  I wonder if you can call your vet and ask them.  Just don't know what to tell you.

Also, you may want to ask another expert on this site.  Someone in the Environmental Section -

Good Luck on this one!
