Blood in my dogs stool.

Question
For the past 2 days my dog has had a very slight amount of blood in his stool. He is only an 11 month old Beagle. He has had diarrhea for a few days also. He doesn't act like anything is bothering him. He still runs and jumps like nothing is wrong. Is there anything I can do to help?

Answer
Hello Whitney - it could be a virus or bacteria.  It may run it's course in a few more days. If he continues to have loose poops then please take a stool sample to the vet.

Here are some ideas for you:

Add some canned pure pumpkin to his diet.  Give him 2 tablespoons full of canned pumpkin 1-2 x per day. This will make his poops more solid and give him some calories.

YOU can give him some pepto bismol - give him a child's size dosage - if you don't understand, I can help on this..

Get some NuVET Plus - This will help him to build up his strength to fight off viruses and bacteria in the future.  NuVET keeps him healthy and strong..

I hope this helps your boy!
