My Grandmas Cat

Question
Hello,

My Grandma has had this cat for years.  I believe it is 14 years old.  Anyway, that cat has been getting in a few fights within the last five months, and twice his flesh on his nose severely exposed (last happened sometime in May).  Another accident was he had a medium size flesh exposed on the top of his head.  This happened sometime in March.  In both cases, Grandma took him to the vet, and the vet said to keep doing what we were doing, which was to put Niosporin on the effected area.

Well, now the cat hasn't been in any fights for a while, but according to my Grandma, the cat is sneezing out blood!  Is this a healing effect to his past injuries a few months ago?  Or is it simply is age?  If this were to continue, should we consult a veternian?

Thank you for your time.  I really do appreciate your help!

Best Regards,
Jameyson

Answer
He most likely has a sinus infection.  The past fights could have left bacteria harboring which led to the infection or it could be totally separate infection.  I would recommend a trip the vet for an examination and some oral antibiotics.  If antibiotics do not clear it up, then there is a possibility that he has nasal cancer.  I would also recommend testing him for Feline Leukemia and FIV.
