4yr old Schnauzer will not sleep

Help!  My dog is waking me up 4-5 times a night.  She use to sleep through the night, but now she is restless all night.  Nothing in our routine has changed and I don't know what to do.  She will jump off the bed and go eat, potty, investigate for about 10 min and then whine for me to put her back on the bed.  She is crated all day so I hate to crate her at night.  What should I do?

There is a good chance that your pup is restless at night because she is crated most of the day.  Her sleep schedule is backward - most likely she sleeps most of the day and is not tired at night. She probably views the quality time with you as time spent at night because you are at home.  

If there is any way you can get home during the day to walk her or give her attention, that may help to keep her from spending the daylight hours asleep.  If there are doggie day care facilities in your area, you may want to consider this opportunity to keep her occupied during the day.

You might want to have her examined by a veterinarian just to make sure she is healthy.  If her doctor determines that she is healthy, then you can be fairly certain that she is waking you up at night to get your attention.
