My cat has bad gas

Question
Hi, I have a new cat and he frequently passes some really smelly gas.  He came to me as a stray.  I live in the country and somebody decided that they didn't want their cat any more so he was left near my house.  He began by hanging out with my barn cats but was friendly and after a check up by my vet he has moved inside.  When I talked to my vet about the gas she guessed it was maybe due to his being a stray, eating the dog's food and worms.  He had a worming pill and is staying out of the dog's dish but still has gas issues.  I have another indoor cat and aside from his nose being out of joint over having a new brother he has no health issues.  I plan to have the new cat neutered within a month.

Perhaps the food your new cat is eating does agree with his stomach. You may need to try a different diet. I always recommend providing high quality food.  Premium diets have demonstrated that pets that are fed high quality food do not get sick as often as pets that are fed cheaper foods.

Ask your veterinarian for recommendations on meds that might help to diffuse the gas; but first you should determine why the kitten has so much gas.
