boston terrier seizure question

Question
My 5 yr old boston began having seizures about a year ago. I was told by a
vet who is a sibling of my friend to write down when they come and the
symptoms, etc. I was told not to put him on meds unless absolutely
necessary. He has began to have them in the night time. He now is acting
really strange. He seems to not be able to hardly walk , cant jump on the bed
and is staring into space. Is this a sign of seizure???

Answer
Yes that sounds like a seizure. I hope you got him to a vet before you read this. Some seizures will not come for years and other dogs have them constantly. Staring into space is a sign of a petite mal seizure as opposed to a grand mal seizure which is the kind where they fall over and foam at the mouth, shake  etc.

Veterinarian's try the conservative approach first but if he has them once a week then he needs to be on medication. Most dogs live happy, normal lives on it and live a long time.
