Question
We rescued our little Mary Kate from a kill shelter last Saturday. She has peridontal  disease and had her teeth cleaned and several pulled. She probably still needs more extracted. I prefer not to feed her soft food but I'm afraid that is all she'll be able to eat. I'm unsure as to the type and brand I should use, and what to look for on the ingredients. Since she's between 7 and 10 I want her to live the rest of her years happy and healthy. Thank you so much In a week we are so totally in love with this precious girl....P.J.

Answer
Bless you for adopting her. She will do much better with those teeth pulled but she doesn't have to eat canned food. There are plenty of dogs out there that eat dry food with no teeth at all.

Since she is a senior dog she should be put on Science Diet Senior formula. That is the best food out there. You will see a big difference in her coat and energy after about three weeks on this food. That's how long it takes to start showing up in the body.

It is a complete food with everything she needs to be healthy and get stronger.
Here is a link to explain this food better than I can:

You will save money in the long run and have a healthier, happy dog as well.
Good luck with her and please let me know how she does. Remember to switch her slowly over a period of seven days with the new food.
