hello I have a Jack russell terrier that is sufering a seveir pain he started with pain on the neck seems like it hearts when we tried to touch or when he barked after this we took him to the vet they gave him antibiotics and pain killer and also steroids pills this make him a little confortable for a day but the pain came back and now after he eats the pain starts again we took him back to the vet they did some xrays nothing everthing looks normal please help!!

Answer
If your dog is on pain killers and steroids then he might need a few days of very little activity for these to work.

If the vet you saw can't find what's wrong based on an xray then most likely it's a disc problem in his neck or back. In other words, he probably has a pinched nerve from a disc slipping or getting twisted. Often little dogs will do this after jumping off of a bed or couch.

Bed rest and some warm wash rags changed every 1/2 might also help him.

The best thing you could do for him is find a veterinary chiropractor. He needs to probably have a neck adjustments. Sometimes a veterinary acupuncturist can help but a chiropractor is what he probably needs the most.

If you cannot do any of those things then keep him very quiet and don't let him jump on or off of the furniture. The swelling will go down with rest and warm compresses and he should feel better soon.
