Dogs illness

Question
I had a dog that recently died. The dog was a 1 year old mix breed. The vet. thought that the dog had come into contact with anti-freeze, but the dog had never been outside my fenced in back yard. The vet did not do any test's to confirm or deny if this is indeed the cause, because the dog died on the examination table. The dog's brother(same litter) is doing fine still(health wise). We adopted a 4 month old golden-chow mix from the pound with a clean bill of health. The new dog is now starting to show some of the symptoms that the recently deceased dog showed. The new dog did eat some of the healthy dog's adult dog food and did get diarreha. The new dog is acting somewhat lathargic and is refusing it's puppy food. I've checked the perimeter of the fence to see if there was any outside source for anti-freeze, but did not locate anything that could be used to hold fluids. We do not own any anti-freeze, so the only way it could be introduced would be an outside source. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Dear Mike Miranda,I am truely sorry about the loss of your dog.He is still in your heart with you,and is probably guarding you in heaven. As for your new puppy, congradulations! You should not feed your new puppy the adult food, seeming how he is still a puppy and this may cause some health problems.Your best bet is to give him regular puppy food.Again, make sure there is not poisonus products in the yard or anywhere your puppy and dog could possibly get.If they do somehow get into something poisonous, immediatley call animal poison control and immediatley go to the vet.As for him refusing food, you should keep switching his food around until he likes one.If you try every brand of puppy food and he still refuses the food, please write back to me and I can tell you everything about it,including home remedies of what to do.Also,if your neighboors are rude and hate your animals, they could be feeding them poisonous stuff,or stuff that is not good for their health. When you let them outside to go to the bathroom,be sure to watch them the whole to make sure the neighboors do not feed them stuff their not supposed to get.As for the lethargy and diarrhea, you muct take them to the vet when possible to get a examination to tell the proper diagnosis and ther proper treatment.

I hope this helps!I wish I could be more of a help!Give those doggies kisses for me!Please keep me posted!
