Starting a Marine Aqarium

Question
Hi! my question is based on the idea of, " I have never done this before!" So I was Planning on getting a 75 gallon aqaurium and (here lies the problem) there are so many different types of fish I didn't know which ones would be hardy enough to withstand the learning experience the tank will go through and which fish would get along with each other. So if you could give me a few different kinds of fish that are begginer level and very hardy that would be wonderful!(I am Very Fond of Mandarins!)

Answer
well i will tell you now, stay well away from damsels, they are the hardiest of marine fish but are awefully aggressive, do not beleive what your fish shop says about them like i did. i kept damsels for 12months as thats all i could have in my tank, they would have bullied and killed anything else i put in there.

to be honest as long as you cycle the tank right and wait untill all your peranmeters are in line, you can add almost anything right away as long as you know how to care for them properly.

mandarins are pretty hard to care for unless you can find 1 that eats frozen food (very few and far between) the fish shops manage to sell them just before they starve to death.

i think a good start is a pair of tank bred clown fish, i say tank bred as they are used to the aquarium enviroment and are less likely to go belly up that their wild caught species, green chromis are a pretty hardy species of non aggressive damsel fish and look stunning in a shoal.

i would steer well clear of angel fish and butterfly fish, for 1 they cant be mixed and 2 they can be a nightmare to feed, its really best if you reserch the fish you think you would like then ask me if they are compatible and easy to care for.
