Question
Hi TJ,
Life saving question for my Chocolate Chip star here if you would be so kind.  My husband went out and bought "live rock" 5bs for $50.00.  He paid that price because he noticed things growing on it, plants and other things (glass anenemones) anyhow, my CCS has grown quite fond of this new addition and I have to say myself that the rock is beautiful.  Anyhow, the CCS has eaten one of the anemones, (great for me, but hubby thinks that the star is killing off his beautiful treasure) and he wants to get rid of the star.  My question is: I have a FOWLER and don't intend on changing that.  With my current set up, will it keep the aptasia at bay?  Or should I look to getting rid of it?  I don't want to take out the live rock and kill the other hitchhikers that I've seen so far. He wants to put it in my QT and all that is in there is a blue damsel and various hermits, I refuse.  To sum it up will my star take care of the aptasia along with:
11 hermit crabs (various)
1 emerald crab
1 cleaner shrimp
4 large snails
2 Oscellaris clowns
30gl tank
35lbs live rock
40lbs live sand
any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
Laurie

Answer
Hey Laurie

If your star has eaten some anemones already, he will keep going. this is good though, since aiptasia are bad and will sting other living things and spread like wildfire. i personally would keep the star in the tank to kill the aiptasia, if he starts killing other hitchhikers (which i doubt he will), its up to you if you want to remove the star

good luck!
