i want to get this p0orcupine puffer i am putting him in a 100g tank and  i was reading that the
ph: 8.1 - 8.4
gravity:1.020- 1.025
carbonate hardness: 8-12
  what do i need ....ive never had a salt water tank and i dont know  where to start?

Hello Annette,

you need a lot. well, not really, but it will take a bit more research then just asking me. I can give you some specific answers, but for general questions i suggest you read up on how to setup a salwater aquarium.

I would also suggest at this time to not worry about the 'perameters' you just cited above.  Getting the basic water chemistry is kind of natural, as long as you mix the salt water to a salinity of 1.025

If you do that, and do the regular maintenance cited in all the articles, you should be fine with the pH and allthe other stuff.

You will have to test for Nitrate to observe and determine WHEN to do whater changes.  But in general folks do water changes by routine and do them about every two weeks.

If you do that, you should be fine.
