my star polyp corals have taken a set back and are not oppening up at all ... what should i do ? i have checked all water parametres .. its fine and other corals are in a very good condition.. but my star polyps look very unfit. please tell me a solution to this ?

Answer
Hello yasar.

(btw: I changes the message to PUBLIC so others may read the questions and answers we discuss)

I would appreciate hearing your water perameters, regardless if you think they are or areant.

Some problems have many contributing 'factors' and my accumulating information may help show trends or patters that may help me establish patters or trends to help diagnose problems in the future.

As for your Star polyps, I would like to know how long you have had them, how old is your tank, how often you clean/change the water, what type of filtration you have...

All these things may help in 'solving this', but it may also be something that 'cant be solved'.

Not all corals can be kept by everyone.  some people cant keep ont type of corals while otehrs have more success with that same species..

As an example, I can not grow star polyps or xenia in my display system... They just melt away.  Slowly, over time, they just dissolve...

I can keep them in my frag tank, but not in my display.  My dispay tnak is 180 gallons, over 4 years old, I have mixed reef, all types of corals and fish, nothing aggressive.  Teh water peramters are ok, not perfect, but okay.  (my nitrates are about 10-20)  (im having some issues at my home right now and it is having aripple affect on my tank)

but i have not been able to keep polyps or xenia since I started that tank..

anyways, please let me know the answer to some of my quesionts, or just accept that you may be one of the minority (Along with me),  and not be able to keep the eaiset corals around...
