Yellow belly dog faced puffer -- sick?

My puffer has a swollen mouth, beek is fine, loss of color and he's not swimming like usual, and not eating, sitting at bottom of tank.

Im so sorry to hear about your puffer..

Unfortunately I am not able to suggest much without knowing more info.

Like any other symptoms, or what his regular diet is, what yo uhave tried..

Also, what your system is composed of, what type of tank, and filter, etc. along with water conditions/peramters


I would suggest logging onto my new forum at www.thelittleocean.com and introducing yourself, and shouting out there, as i have a few agressive species keepers there that might have more information regarding that species then I do...


For now, i would just suggest trying to get him to eat as much as possible...  I would try some live food, and maybe even some vegetable/nori/seaweed.  If he is not eating, you might want to soak the food in garlic juice as both a healthy food source and an enticement,  (who knew that fish liked italian foods??? hehehehe)

there are other 'healthy' additives, but if we cant get your fish to eat, im not sure that foods will work at this point..

I also dont know what else you have in your tank and can not suggest medications unless you relocate your puffer
