Question
Hi Kathryn
I have recently bought two gouramis from a local pet store, but one died the next day. After living in my tanks for about two day, he or she starts to bit my other fishes tails(Fantail goldfish, female betta and guppies) and nipping their bodies. I was wondering why he or she is doing that, i have searched on different websites and they said that they were friendly.

Answer
Hi Jim,
Gourami's are suitable for community tanks although they tend to be fin nippers and sometimes agressive. This can sometimes happen if the tank is too small and they want some more space. This will cause agressive and territorial behaviour from your Gourami.

Regards,
Chloe.
