QuestionI just bought a second hand tank and I was wondering if I should treat it with anything before I put fish in it since I don't know its history.
AnswerHello Penney
Usually the idea is to was a tank down with really hot water and that takes care of any traces of undesirable deposits. Soap of any kind is a bad idea... Some people have been known to use a baking soda paste, but every used tank I've purchased has jest been washed down thoroughly with water only. If you have algae on the walls - an algae sponge or a razor blade will remove that... Good luck
