Pacu help

hi Megan,
i have a pacu that i love... he(well not sure the sex but just assume)looks healthy except for he is breathing really hard and he has one little mark on his side... its like something sticking out of him..its white around the outside of it and just a little black..thing..not sure how to explain it..im not sure what it is, and am not sure if it is making him sick... if you can.. please help me with this.. if needed i can take a picture to show you.. i just dont want him to die. any help at all will be greatly appreciated.. thank you

Is it a lump or does it remind you of cauliflower? Is it cottony or flat? If it looks like cauliflower then it is Lymphocystis which is a virus so it has no cure but fish have been known to survive it.
If it's a lump, it still might be Lymphocystis.
If it's cottony, it's a fungus which can be treated with some fungus medicine
