Question
hello...You helped me awhile ago with Frankenstein
my blue cray, he is in a tank with a couple of tetera,
two bristlenose plec, and 10 guppies I put in just to
keep his mind off other fish.  its been about three
months he never bothers any other fish he will actualy
walk right over the pleco's, hes friends with the
guppies so far this is great for me. OK now to the
question...I have another tank featuring nothing but
types of catfish the main attraction is a bunch of
banjo cats a couple rafaels and assorted others.
the question is...Im tempted to put a redcray
in with these cats.   Im rolling rolling dice no
a bad idea arent I?  Do crays bother this type
of cat fish?  or did I just have good luck with
Frankstein and my other tank?  thanks

banjo cats and rafael's and others.
Im dying to put a redcray in with them, will the
cray bother cat,s or am I rolling dice on a bad idea
because Frankstein is so well behaved (so far) in
his tank.   thanks foolish tempted aquarist

Answer
Hi Steve,

I actually would advise keeping Frankenstein alone, totally.  Adding any fish to his tank is a bad idea, even if he hasn't touched them for three months.  The reason is, someday he will.  He can't be trained not to.  It is his instinct to eat fish.

For that reason, I don't suggest adding any fish to his tank.  I know you're convinced he's fine right now, but my experience is that they will eventually turn cannibalistic, eating tankmates, even other crayfish if given the opportunity.

Crayfish eat what's on the floor faster than what's swimming past, if this helps any in your decision. :)

Happy fish, er-uh...cray-fish keeping! :)
