Question
Hello,

We have a dwarf gouramis in a fish bowl. He is not swimming around much and hardly eating. We have fake plants in the bowl but what do we need to do to make it right for the dwarf gouramis?

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Sarah;

If you have had your gourami a long time and he is just recently acting strange he may be getting old, needs a water change, may be constipated, or if it's now winter where you live he may just need warmer water. Fish will become lethargic and stop eating if too cold. Dwarf gouramis are tropical so if your home temperature is less than 75f he needs a heater to stabilize his temperature.

Even though your gourami is a dwarf fish he does get over 3 inches long so he needs at least a 5 gallon tank. Any tank or bowl needs at least a weekly water change too. Let me know more about him, what he eats, water temperature, how much water the bowl holds, how often it is cleaned, etc., and we can go from there...
