Parasites on my tank glass

Question
I too have these small white almost string like inchworms on my take and floating about the tank. I have been doing half tank water changes every eight weeks, its a 65 gallon freshwater with four Oscars and a Geo and Plecos, my wifes tank does much better then mine and she does do water changes near as much as I thought she is raising Malawies in a 55 gallon tank. T o honest though I had been lazy in the past few months and am well past a water change. Is this all I may need to do or is there a treatment I should use also. Thank you for any help our fish are part of our family here, we are very woried.

Answer
Hi Homer,
I do believe that your tank is simply in need of more frequent water changes. You have quite some messy fish in your 65-gallon so weekly water changes would be a must. Try to do half the water once a week.Your fish will really appreciate it and the worms will soon disappear. The worms are definitely a sign that the aquarium needs more maintenance. Malawi cichlids are generally cleaner than the fish you keep in your tank so thats why your wife's tank is doing better I'm sure.

Best wishes and happy fishkeeping!
Karen~
