is my guppie pregnant

I bought my guppy from a fish store. It was in with other males. I bought 2 females and 1 male. I've had them for almost a week. One female has a light brown spot. Is she pregnant? If not, will she eventually become pregnant?

Answer
Since guppies are such prolific breeders, I would assume that she indeed is pregnant.  If, that is, if she is mature.  If she is mature, the chances of her being pregnant is very high.  I use to say that guppies are born pregnant, since they breed so often.  In fact, once she is pregnant, you could take the males out, and she will continue to be pregnant for at least 6 more broods.  Hope you enjoy all your new guppies, as you will have a lot of them, providing you do not have anything else that will eat them.
