Question
I had a Freshwater Aquarium a home. I thinking about get a new 46 Gal tank and start again when I move back home on my own in May. My Collage roommate told me how to make some Aquarium soap. 1 Gal of water 5 TSP of Sodium carbonate 3-4 tsp of salt. I been looking on the web about Cleaning a new Aquarium but I could not find nothing.

Answer
If you are buying a new fish tank I am puzzled as to why you would want to clean it. If you just need some info on cleaning a tank: if it is just dusty or has alittle film on it, simply use water and a wash cloth / if it is very dirty and has a build up it is ok to use a mild household cleaner, just be sure to wash it out completely until the water runs clear and free of any bubbles. Its not really something that needs much thought just whatever you use, which you can literally use anything besides bleach, make sure you wash it out. Treat it as any item, such as a dirty dish or a plant pot. I have used almost everything to clean my tanks depending on the level of dirty and have not had any issues with residue as I am sure to wash everything out until it is completely free of cleaner. I hope this helps. Let me know if I did not get what you were asking completely.
