Tiger Barb - SICK??

Question
I've got a Tiger Barb that I noticed last night something didn't seem quite right but I got busy with something and didn't check on him again.  Tonight he is VERY bloated and his eyes seem to be bulging, and he seems pale in color.  For much of the night he sat in one place away from the other fish fairly rapid respiration.  Now I just peaked in on him and he is swimming around with the other fish but still looks horrible. Is there anything I can do? I'm not really sure what to do this is my first time having a fish tank (well I've had it going for approx 8 months.  I've never had a fish get sick so please any insight would help!!  Is he sick with something that might be passed on to the other 5 fish?  Total fish in the tank are 2 Tiger Barbs, 1 Pleco, 2 Platy's and 1 Guppy.

Answer
It sounds like he has bloat, an internal parasite, or a bladder condition. Either way, he will need to be treated. It would be best if you could remove him to an isolation tank but if you do not have another tank you will have to treat him in the regular tank. Get a treatment that says it covers internal parasites and diseases. Follow the direction exactly, including the water changes and dose. Also, while the other fish CAN get the disease/parasite treating will help the other fish fight it off and chances are not even get it. Also, it sounds like he is far advanced in the problem so treatment may help him survive and it may not, it depends on how strong he is, either way you must treat to give him a chance. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else.
