Question
Hi,
I just got an aquarium and i have a common pond goldfish that i put in it. My friend went out and bought 6 small tropical fish and added them to the tank. Can my goldfish live with tropical fish? I know they need different water ph and stuff like that but what about food. Tropical fish eat different then goldfish. SHoud i move him out into his own fish bowl?

Answer
No, they can not live together. Goldfish are cold water, tropical fish are....tropical.

However, that is the least of your worries. Common goldfish will grow to be almost 2 feet in length, and need at least a 300 gallon aquarium. How big is yours?

And no, do not move him to a bowl, I have no idea why those things are still legal in North America. They have been banned in a few European countries, as well as many European cities. I can't wait for North America to get with that trend. Goldfish bowls are a terrible form of animal cruelty.
