Question
Hi, just need some advice on stocking my 29 gal aquarium, it is a new tank, im running a rena 55 smartfilter and integrated 150 heater, along with a rena 100 air pump, substrate is white and black sand. Current residents are 3 False Juli Corys, 2 Cherry Barbs, 1 Rainbow Shark, hopefully I didn't over due it for cycling, but one week in and all is well, tests etc. After cycling do I have room for some more Corys or Barbs? I'm sticking with small fish that won't outgrow the tank, I believe the shark will be the largest of the bunch eventually 4-5 inches? at the moment it's on the 1.5-2 inch size, thanks for any advice!

Answer
Hi Shawn,
I think you are doing quite well with your aquarium!

I believe once the aquarium has finished cycling, you could definitely add more barbs and cories. 3-4 more barbs and 2-3 more cories would be fine. Its a great idea you have to stick with smaller fish -- that way you can have more fish and are able to see more natural behaviors since many species are more comfortable in a decent sized group of their own.

You could definitely add about two more schools of fish to your tank as well once the aquarium is established to go along with your group of barbs. Tetras, rainbowfish, rasboras, or even other barb species would look really nice.

I hope this helps!
Karen~
