Missing gourami

Question
I just came back from a week's vacation and all of my fish were fine, except for a missing gold gourami.  Before I went away, I noticed that he only came out to eat.  Now he's gone.  I did a water change, cleaned the gravel, and he's nowhere to be found.  Is it possible he died and his tankmates ate him?  I also have 4 black ruby barbs a rosy barb, 2 platys and 6 blood fin tetras.

Answer
Hi Jane,
All of those fish are pretty small and of which are either non-agressive or semi-agressive.  If he did die and the tankmates ate him, there should be a carcass or skeleton left behind.  Did you check behind decocorations? or was he a jumper and jumped out from behind the tank if you dont have a cover?  He must be there somewhere, check thoroughly around, if not, you must have one exceptionally rare fish that sprouted wings :).
