Cichlid tank mates

I have a 40 gallon tank that I would like to set up with just cichlids since they come in such beautiful colors.  My question is what types of algae eaters and bottom feeders are safe to put in with Cichlids?

Hi Marie,

You can go with cory cats (larger) and with plecos.  They are both fish which should be safe with Cichlids.  Also, please purchase young, small fish so they can all grow up together.  Once they do, there is less chance of territorial fin-nipping.
