Question
Hi
I am starting to do a FISHLESS CYCLING for my new 36g bowfornt tank. I want to know if Aqueon Water Conditiner will removes the ammonia(added during the cyling process) and slow the fishless cyling process down? I was wonder this because on the label of the bottle it said that it will Detoxifies ammonia created by the fish.
Thankyou

Answer
Hi Quan,

It will kill some of the ammonia, but adding chemicals is not something I recommend, ever.

Start with crystal clean distilled or Reverse Osmosis water, and go from there instead.

To start a fishless cycle, please consider adding a Biozyme product to the aquarium while it's empty to help kick-start the cycle process.

Good luck and if you find you are having ammonia issues, rather than using a chemical, please go buy Zeolyte Crystals, and place them in a net where the filter is flowing through them.  They combat ammonia 24/7 and are a much better source of ammonia removal than chemicals.

Do lots of water changes during the cycle.  At least every weekend.

Good luck, and if you want to send followup questions, please be my guest and I'd be happy to help you get this tank going good and strong.

Happy Fish-keeping!
