Mollies and live birth

Question
I woke up this morning to several baby mollies swimming around my tank.  I am worried that the other fish will eat the fry.  Should I seperate them?

Answer
Hi Cindy,
The other fish may very well eat the fry.

Oftentimes the mother fish herself will eat her own babies!

Netting the little babies and separating them into another tank is definitely an option, just be sure if the nursery tank is small to change out half the water at least every day.

Baby mollies are also tough survivors that, if there is enough heavy plant cover, several of them can survive by taking refuge in plants until they have grown large enough to not be threatened by the other fish.

I'm hoping I haven't answered this too late. But feed the babies finely powdered flake food and keep their water clean and they will grow fast!!

If you have lost the fry by now dont worry, your mollies will be having more babies before you know it!

I hope this helps and best of luck!
Susan~
