Fish all are dying

Question
I changed the tank about a week ago. Clear water all were fine. Yesterday and this morning I have flushed 10 fish. I have a 50 gallon I believe. The scales look like they are flaking and they have white spots all of them. I had angel fish, white and black Mollies, and a sucker fish. I only have 1 angel fish, two Mollies and a sucker fish left. I see to add salt can it be table salt or do I need to go buy fish salt? I know by tonight they will all be dead. I do not know what happen... :-(

Answer
Melanie,
If you changed out the tank a week ago, then they probably died because the tank did not cycle. The cycle process can take 6 weeks, and they should not be fish in the tank. If you noticed white spots on them, then they have Ich. You can add aquarium salt to the water, but DO NOT add regular table salt. If it is Ich, slowly turn the heater up to 85 degrees. The turning up the heater, and the adding of salt, will speed up the reproduction time for Ich and will get rid of it sooner. Molly's are brackish fish, which means they need salt in the tank. Make sure, when adding brackish fish, that they all can have salt in the water.
