Thanks for all the great advice, I'm sure I will take advantage of your suggested web site for ordering products.

The nearest big town from North Pole is Fairbanks.  I live about 35 miles from there and work there daily.  We used to have 3-4 nicer pet stores but over the years they've gone downhill or out of business.  There has always been a problem with them getting healthy fish though.

Hi Angela,
   My guess is that there must be more of you (fish keepers) around than meets the eye, so the trick is to find each other.  You might try looking on some of the Yahoo cichlid egroups to see if you can locate other Alaskan cichlid fans.
  Also consider going on the new American Cichlid Association web forum to locate other folks.  http://cichlid.org
